Campaigns Overview
The Scottish Green Party is campaigning in four major areas:
- Transport - for investment in fast, clean public transport, not more unsustainable road projects and airport expansion
- Energy - yes to renewable energy, no to nuclear power
- Food - for a food revolution
- Zero Waste - Read the Zero Waste Manifesto
Greens are also campaigning
- For peace
- For the preservation of the high street and small local businesses
- Against ID cards and the proposed identity database
- Against Tetra masts
Fair Funding
The Electoral Commission has recommended that there be fair funding of political parties, but the parties of the big donors want to keep their state subsidies. Write to your MP to ensure a level playing field. Find out more about the Electoral Administration Bill.
Green Bills
As part of these campaigns, the Scottish Green MSPs have previously launched bills on:
- GM Liability: Liability for Release of Genetically Modified Organisms (Scotland) Bill
- Transport targets: The Green Transport Bill
- An end to fuel poverty: Home Energy Efficiency Targets Bill
- Climate Change: The Big Ask in Scotland ( Press release | Consultation paper )
Other Green bills in the 2003-2007 session included:
- Tax the Land: a land-value tax for Scotland (Leaflet.)
- (Civil Partnerships: this was superseded by a Sewel motion from the Executive, abrogating responsibility for this issue in the Scottish Parliament).
