Greens Launch Debate on National Anthem for Scotland

Greens MSPs will host a press conference on Monday 15 November on the topic of a national anthem and how politicians and the public can campaign for a song for Scotland.

Greens MSPs will host a press conference on Monday 15 November on the topic of a national anthem and how politicians and the public can campaign for a song for Scotland.

An extract of BBC Scotland television programme Writing Scotland arguing the case for A Man's A Man will be screened, followed by a discussion led by John Archer and Carl MacDougall.

George Reid will outline the background to his petition to the Scottish Parliament, and Chris Ballance MSP will talk on the parliamentary route to selecting an anthem for Scotland.

The panel will comprise:

Chris Ballance MSP, Green Speaker on Culture

George Reid, whose petition on a national anthem will be heard by the Petitions Committee

John Archer, producer, Hopscotch Films, former director of Scottish Screen

Carl MacDougall, writer who produced and wrote the BBC Scotland TV series and accompanying book Writing Scotland.

The event is expected to last approximately 30 minutes.
