The Scottish Green Party is committed to protecting your privacy, including online, and in the transparent use of any online information you give us. This page sets out what information we may hold about you if you provide it, and how that data will be used, both by the website and by the party more generally. No information will be shared more widely than is set out below unless it is required by law.

This site will set anonymous cookies if your browser is set to accept them, and they will be used by Google Analytics (see below).

IF YOU SIGN UP FOR NEWS BY EMAIL:

We will record your name and email address. This information will be stored on our servers in order to maintain your subscription. It will not be used for any other purpose and will not be shared with any external organisations. It will be held for as long as you wish to maintain your subscription.

IF YOU MAKE AN ONLINE DONATION:

We will hold a record of the source email address your payment comes from. This information will be held internally by our finance officers and will be shared with the Electoral Commission in the case of donations totalling over £500.

IF YOU DONATE BY STANDING ORDER:

The personal and bank details you provide will be kept securely by us and will only be shared with your bank and ours.

IF YOU JOIN THE SCOTTISH GREEN PARTY:

We will hold a record of your name and postal address and any email address(es) you register with us for the purpose of general communication. We will hold a record of the income band you declare at the time of joining or renewal of your membership for our financial records. Optionally, you may register special interests.

This information will be used for party management purposes, and will not be shared with any external organisations without your specific consent; it will be held for as long as you maintain your membership. If your membership lapses, your status as an ex-member will be recorded for a further 2 years in case.

GOOGLE ANALYTICS:

The Scottish Green Party website uses Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google, Inc. (“Google”). Google Analytics uses “cookies”, which are text files placed on your computer, to help the website analyze how users use the site. The information generated by the cookie about your use of the website (including your IP address) will be transmitted to and stored by Google on servers in the United States . Google will use this information for the purpose of evaluating your use of the website, compiling reports on website activity for website operators and providing other services relating to website activity and internet usage. Google may also transfer this information to third parties where required to do so by law, or where such third parties process the information on Google’s behalf. Google will not associate your IP address with any other data held by Google. You may refuse the use of cookies by selecting the appropriate settings on your browser. By using this website, you consent to the processing of data about you by Google in the manner and for the purposes set out above. We use Google Analytics to make sure our online campaigning is as effective as possible, and it is also one of the ways we make sure that this website is clear and usable.
