Scottish Greens

Campaigns

The Scottish Green Party campaigns on a wide range of issues, including those listed below. Some of our campaigns are led from within the Scottish Parliament, some through local government, and others by Greens working in communities across Scotland.  Find out more about our current campaigns below.

Cut your bills - insulate every home

Everyone deserves a warm home and affordable fuel bills, but fuel poverty is on the rise. £100m a year over ten years would insulate every home in Scotland for free, while also boosting jobs and tackling climate change.

Scotland's housing stock is poorly insulated and inefficiently heated, and fuel bills are too high, especially for those on low incomes. Wasted energy also means more climate-busting pollution. Properly insulating all Scotland's homes would be the cheapest and most efficient way to tackle all these problems at the same time.

Forth Road Bridge

The Scottish Green Party is currently the only Parliamentary party arguing for the existing Forth Road Bridge to be repaired, rather than building a new bridge for a starting price of £2,300m. Even if this measure does not work, installing a new cable would cost a maximum of £122m, a small fraction of the cost.

Fairer taxes - invest in public services

The Scottish Greens reject the idea that there are no alternatives to ideological cuts to the public sector, cuts that threaten jobs and the services we all rely on. The Greens will back a fairer system of taxation, where the better off pay more, those on lowest incomes pay less, and big business pays its fair share. This change is essential to enable Scotland to invest in decent public services and retain jobs and services.
