Still time to.... 'Save the Odeon!'

A demolition ball still hangs over the former Odeon cinema on Clerk Street in Edinburgh's Southside.

Last month I visited the building with the public local inquiry Reporter, who is now deciding its fate. It's still an amazing building with many of its art-deco features intact including an impressive proscenium arch. There are parties seriously interested in retaining the interior for cinema use.

If you think that the inside of the old cinema should be protected in order that it can be used as a venue rather than be demolished to allow conversion to a hotel and bistro, you can write to the DPEA, Callendar Business Park, Falkirk FK1 1XR. Save the Odeon!

Think it might be being saved now, or is it only a temporary reprieve? http://www.list.co.uk/article/24648-festival-of-one-liners-brings-new-life-to-edinburgh-odeon-cinema/
